Molla is the technique of making flowers and jewellery with hollow coils
(like springs). It is a technique you'll find in the various Ganutell
instructions and patterns. Dalene Kelly's
Teardrop and Crystal pattern
is an example of a molla flower. The pictures are enlarged so you can see detail.
Actual petals are 2-3 cm.
In my search for interesting and unusual three dimensional floral
jewelry and other pieces I discovered a
beautiful vintage (estimated 1940) molla flower wreath in a shadow box frame.
The wreath alone measures approximately 24 x 26 inches.
